594: equipment purchases, Site CU 26m Tower, Tue 21-Oct-2008 11:56:42 MDT, 5.6m C-SAT3 re-cal and rain upgrade
On Friday, October 10, I mailed the 5.6m csat (s/n 0328, RMA 7881) back to
Campbell for a re-cal and the rain upgrade. They receievd the sonic on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

They estimated a 2 week turn around for this.

On Tuesday, October 21 I called to check on the sonic's status. Sasha (a male
sonic engineer) told me:

They discovered some issue with one of the transducers while the sonic was in
their calibration chamber. They are doing further tests in the calibration
chamber to determine whether the transducer needs to be replaced. If the sonic
comes out of the chamber later today and everything looks okay they will ship
the sonic back to us tomorrow, with Friday looking like a probable arrival day. If, however, the calibration still looks unstable they will replace the
questionable transducer and the sonic will ship Friday, probably getting back
to us next Monday or Tuesday (Oct 27 or 28).

539: equipment purchases, Site none, Wed 12-Mar-2008 16:39:00 MDT, Campbell fix to cr23x and batteries.
March 12, 2008.

The "broken" UCB cr23x logger (sn 6425, W/4M memory) was sent
back to us from campbell.

The diagnosis was:

"LCD was black. Was able to communicate via RS232. Sent new OS and
reset LCD contrast. Bench test, calibrated and ran in environmental
chamber. Did final test and unit is working properly and meeting
specs."

cost of repair = $142.50.

Also, the two batteries were delivered. Details:

1. PS12LA or PS512M Replacement Sealed Rechargeable Battery, 7 Ahr
(this one is to replace the battery running the NCTC logger).

2. two 6V 7A-hr Lead Acid Batteries (these can go inside a cr23x).

536: equipment purchases, Site CU 26m Tower, Mon 03-Mar-2008 15:11:36 MST, YUASA battery compatibilty information
Batteries, charging and loggers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Noah's cr10x and the NCTC charging system on the tower, use a YUASA 12VDC
7.0Ah sealed re-chargeable lead-acid battery.

The YUASA 6VDC versions can be used in the bases of cr23x loggers in place
of the PS100 power supply (as long as there is also AC power available). If the
6V batteries die but there is still AC power available the cr23x will continue
to operate properly. The dead 6V batteries, however, should remain in the cr23x
until they can be swapped with replacements.

A note on compatibility: The YUASA 12 and 6 V batteries are compatibile with
the older PS12 power supply from Campbell Sci. We use a PS12 with the NCTC
charging system. These YUASA batteries are not, however, compatibile with the
newer PS100 power supply from Campbell as is. A special connector
(the removable 17200 cable is required) and can be purchased directly from
Campbell Sci.

Purchasing info:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The YUASA 12 and 6 VDC batteries can be purchased directly from Campbell Sci.

Part # 17894 YUASA 12VDC, $38.40

Part # 8219 YUASA 6VDC, $15.40

May 23, 2007.

Ordered 4 repair kits for the GAST 1531-107B-G557X pumps (run the EC system).

This is gast service kit K219.

contact info:

Steve Knox
Fiero Power
303.431.3600

information about life of vanes = 10000 hours. (416 days).

life of bearing is ~ 27000 hours (for low pressure)....

so, probably a good idea to change the vanes about once a year.

if the bearing goes bad then it's better to replace the pump.
