Sep. 5th, 2003 Switched out the robot flasks. Both systems were Done = 1
August 3, 2003 - Sunday Weather -= sunny, hot in AM. Rain and storms moved in around 1:30. JUST rain though -no big lightning and thunder. Robot problems : Brant was suppposed to switch out flasks on previous Friday; however, he called late on Friday and told me there was a problem with the west robot. It had tripped the breaker at Dean's tower and the power was gone. When he attempted to reset the breaker - it kept tripping. So he left flasks as they were (at both east and west). Problem - the battery charger at the west site had developed a short circuit somewhere/somehow. Disconnecting the charger from the battery (and robot) - still tripped the breaker, had sparks fly when you plugged it in and the power cord got warm very quickly - it obviously had a lot of current going through it. Got rid of charger and replaced with another charger. Left on "charge" for about 3-4 hours until robot logger no longer reported a low battery error. After putting on the new charger - data logger/robot seemed to operate normally. Left the flasks there. East Robot has worked properly - changed out the flasks. have a 1/2-suitcase full of flasks to send back and will contact Dave/Andy S. to figure out the next step. Topped off LN2 on the TGA - seemed to be running fine. New Fast O3 target - around 1:00 PM Downloaded data from Soil and TC data loggers (at N canopy access tower). Sean had reported some power problems there, but I saw no problems today. Loaded new program into Soil23x => soil23xC.csi (put in May03 code directory). This logs data from the IR-thermometer which we had inadvertantly been missing.
Monday July 21. The robots had *6A, done=1. Brant closed/checked the East Tower and closed stopcocks. SpB did the west.
Thursday, July 17th. I showed Brant how to swap the flasks at the West Tower. I finished the West Tower flasks and he did the ones at the East Tower on his own. Forgot to copy the cr23x robot data files off of the laptop---will do this tomorrow. The GPS crew is supposed to bring down the suitcase with the swapped flasks. Will mail these tomorrow. also, I should compile the cr23x logger code on the laptop (the program is on a floppy disk in my backpack).
July 10th, 2003. Swapped the flasks. NO problems (that I know of). Data files are on the web at: http://urquell.colorado.edu/bowling/data_robots/ The 2 files are: -rw-rw-r-- 1 sburns 19477 Jul 10 12:43 030710E.dat -rw-rw-r-- 1 sburns 18957 Jul 10 10:01 030710W.dat *E is the East Robot Tower *W is the West Robot Tower. Update, July 11th: *These were FedEX'ed to Utah on July 11th.
