% Notes about the CU/Monson Ameriflux instrumentation and data % processing in 2007. % % % January 31, 2008 % SpB. (sean.burns@colorado.edu) % JmB. (jeffrey.beauregard@colorado.edu) For more complete details see the calendar page at: http://urquell.colorado.edu/calendar/ and the electronic logbook at: http://urquell.colorado.edu/logbook/ -------------------------------------------------------------- -- Two new slow-response (aspirated) T/RH sensors were deployed: * on June 14th (day 165) one TRH sensor added at 10.4m * on September 26th (day 269) one TRH sensor added at 4.6m prior to deployment these sensors were calibrated at the NCAR/EOL calibration facility. -- there were some problems with the calculation of the 5-min covar for the thermocouple data. missing some of these data? Also, no 1-hz thermocouple data from April 3rd until May 31st. -- on Feb 27th, added the krypton hygrometer back to the CU tower at 21.5m (it was removed in late May, 2006). The long delay in getting it back from campbell was a lack of replacement detector tubes. -- between May 10 (day 130) and July 17 (day 198) our 2nd REBs sensor (sn Q96333) was located at the top of the tower (called "s_Rnet_2550cm_REBS_B"). On July 17th (day 198), this REBS sensor was moved down to 2m (near the mini-tower) where the parameter is called, "s_Rnet_0200cm_REBS". -- throughout the summer attempted to use a shading band on a PAR sensor at the top of the tower. This had limited success since the shading was not complete throughout the day. This parameter is, "s_Rppfd_in_2550cm_B_shaded". -- The RM Young prop-vanes (especially the one at 15m) has not been working very well for the past few years. These were sent back for re-furbishing. Also, note that the prop-vane at 15m had previously been described as being at "16m". So notes any notes about the "16-m" propvane are actually referring to the 15-m prop-vane. The dates of prop-vane changes are as follows: * on may 8th (day 128), replaced the "16m" prop-vane with our "spare". brought the former "16-m" prop-vane back to campus (sent back to RM Young). Also, tried to re-align the 25m propvane. * on may 30th (day 150.5), started outputting the prop-vane data in mV * on jul 17th (day 198), tried to replace 15-m cable, still have negative voltages. * on jul 20th (day 201), removed the 15-m prop-vane from the tower (nothing there until oct 10th). * on oct 10th (day 283), reconnected the refurbished 15-m prop-vane (sn00248). * on nov 19th (day 323), re-deployed a refurbuished prop-vane at 25m. * on dec 13th (day 347), started outputting the prop-vane data in physical units rather than mV. -- on sept 13th (day 256), reconnected the repaired AM25T mux to the SOIL logger. It was originally damaged by the lightning strike on July 17th, 2006. -- on October 4th (day 277) a 2-d ati (spas/2Y) sensor was installed at 9.3m. (this was to replace the 9m handar that was destroyed by lightning on July 17 2006). -- between December 20th (day 354) to December 29th (day 363) no hi-rate data are available since russter2 had a hard drive failure. -- in July added a webcam to the tower. see: http://urquell.colorado.edu/forestcam/ [username= "forest", password= "forest"] --------------------------------------------------------------
